Common Walnut (Juglans regia), also known as the English or Persian Walnut, is a large, deciduous tree prized for its delicious, thin-shelled nuts and attractive broad canopy. It is an excellent long-term investment for home orchards, hobby farms, and larger gardens. In addition to producing premium-quality walnuts, it provides excellent summer shade and beautiful golden autumn foliage.

- Performs best in Perth’s cooler inland areas where winter chill is sufficient for reliable nut production.
Root System
- Develops a deep, strong root system with wide-spreading lateral roots.
- Not considered invasive, but due to its size it should be planted at least 10–15 metres away from buildings, swimming pools, septic systems and underground services.
- Best suited to spacious gardens and rural properties.
