A beautiful evergreen shrub valued for its glossy emerald-green foliage and dense growth. It is an excellent choice for screening, hedging and larger garden beds and can perform well in Perth when planted in a suitable position.

Position: Full sun to part shade. Protection from harsh afternoon sun can be beneficial, particularly when establishing young plants.
Soil: Plant in well-drained soil enriched with compost or organic matter.
Water: Water regularly during the first summer. Once established, it has reasonable drought tolerance, but deep watering during Perth’s hot, dry periods will help maintain lush foliage.
Fertiliser: Apply a quality controlled-release fertiliser for shrubs in early spring. A further application in early summer can encourage continued growth.
Pruning: Prune lightly after the main growth flush to maintain the desired size and shape. It can be maintained as a dense hedge with regular trimming.
