Description:
Valencia Orange is one of the world’s most popular sweet orange varieties, producing medium to large, juicy fruit with bright orange skin and a rich, sweet flavour. It is highly regarded for fresh eating and making delicious juice. A non-grafted Valencia Orange is grown from seed or cutting and generally takes longer to begin fruiting than a grafted tree.
Average size:
- Height: 4–6 m
- Width: 3–5 m
- Can be maintained at a smaller size with regular pruning.
Growing conditions (Perth, WA):
- Sun: Full sun
- Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil
- Water: Water deeply and regularly, especially during hot, dry weather
- Fertiliser: Feed with a quality citrus fertiliser from spring through early autumn
- Pruning: Remove dead or crossing branches and lightly shape after harvest
Fruiting season:
- Late winter to summer, with fruit often holding well on the tree for several months.
