🌿 Description
Pycnosorus globosus is a striking Australian native perennial known for its bright golden-yellow, perfectly rounded flower heads. It is closely related to the better-known Pycnosorus “Billy Buttons” and is excellent for native, cottage and water-wise gardens.

☀️ Growing in Perth
It can perform well in Perth when planted in a sunny position with good drainage.
Planting:
- Choose full sun, ideally 6+ hours of sunlight.
- Improve heavy or sandy soil with quality organic matter.
- Ensure excess water can drain away.
- Water regularly while establishing.
Once established: Reduce watering, particularly through winter. During Perth’s hot, dry summers, occasional deep watering will help maintain vigorous growth.
🌱 Fertiliser
Billy Buttons generally don’t need heavy feeding.
Use a slow-release native fertiliser in early spring, following the product label. Avoid excessive high-phosphorus fertilisers.

- Remove spent flower heads to improve appearance and encourage further flowering.
- Cut back old growth after flowering if needed.
- Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet.
