Main features

Growing conditions in Perth
- Position: Full sun, ideally with good airflow.
- Soil: Very well-drained, preferably sandy and slightly acidic.
- Proteas dislike heavy, wet soils and waterlogging.
- Water regularly while establishing; once established, they are relatively drought tolerant.
- Avoid high-phosphorus fertilisers. Use a Protea/low-phosphorus native fertiliser sparingly.
- Mulch around the plant, but keep mulch away from the main stem.
- Light pruning after flowering helps maintain a compact, attractive plant and encourages new flowering wood.

King White Protea makes a magnificent feature plant for Perth gardens. Its enormous white flowers create a strong focal point and work beautifully in native gardens, cottage gardens, Mediterranean landscapes, coastal gardens and large containers. It is also highly valued by florists for its impressive cut flowers.
