Lavandula ‘Purple Reign’ is a striking lavender cultivar valued for its large, deep-purple flower spikes, long flowering period and compact, bushy growth. It is an excellent choice for Perth gardens because lavender generally performs very well in sunny, dry and well-drained conditions.

🌸 Landscaping importance
‘Purple Reign’ is excellent for creating low borders, mass plantings and colourful garden edges. Its silver-grey foliage contrasts beautifully with the dark purple flowers.
It works particularly well in:
☀️ Care in Perth
Position: Full sun — ideally 6+ hours of direct sunlight.
Soil: Very well-drained soil is essential. Lavender does not like constantly wet roots.
Watering: Water regularly while establishing. Once established, allow the soil to dry between watering. Avoid frequent shallow watering.
Fertiliser: Lavender doesn’t require heavy feeding. A light application of a suitable controlled-release fertiliser in spring is usually sufficient.
Pruning: Trim lightly after flowering to maintain a compact shape. Avoid cutting deeply into old, woody stems.
Perth tip: The combination of hot summers and winter rainfall makes drainage particularly important. If your soil is heavy clay, improve drainage or plant lavender in a raised bed.
