Growing Conditions in Perth đż
Flame Seedless performs well in Perthâs warm, dry Mediterranean climate.
- Sun: Full sun â ideally 6â8+ hours daily
- Soil: Deep, fertile and well-drained soil
- Improve the planting area with quality compost or well-rotted organic matter.
- Avoid waterlogged soil.
- Provide a strong trellis, pergola or grape wire for support.
- Water deeply and regularly during spring and summer, particularly while fruit is developing.
- Reduce watering as the fruit approaches ripening to help avoid overly soft fruit and splitting.
Pruning & Fertilising
Prune during winter while the vine is dormant to encourage productive new growth.
Feed in late winter/early spring with a fruit-tree or grape fertiliser, then provide additional feeding during active growth if required. Avoid excessive nitrogen, which can encourage leaves at the expense of fruit.
