Description:
The Grafted Dwarf Pinkerton Avocado is a compact, productive avocado tree that produces large, pear-shaped fruit with green, slightly pebbled skin and rich, creamy flesh. It is well known for its excellent flavour, small seed, and high flesh-to-seed ratio. Being grafted, it fruits earlier than seed-grown trees and is ideal for home gardens and smaller spaces.
Average size:
- Height: 2.5–4 m
- Width: 2–3 m
- Easily maintained with regular pruning.
Growing conditions (Perth, WA):
- Sun: Full sun
- Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil
- Water: Water deeply and regularly, especially during hot weather and while fruit is developing
- Fertiliser: Feed with a quality citrus and avocado fertiliser from spring to early autumn
- Pruning: Light pruning after harvest to maintain size and shape
Fruiting season:
- Late winter to spring in many parts of Australia (timing may vary slightly with climate).
Pollination:
- Type A flowering.
- Partially self-fertile, but planting a Type B avocado nearby (such as ‘Bacon’ or ‘Zutano’) can improve fruit set and increase yields.
