Acacia ‘Limelight’ Standard
Main features
How to care for Acacia ‘Limelight’ in Perth
Position: Plant in full sun to light shade. A sunny position helps maintain dense, attractive foliage.
Soil: Use well-drained soil. Avoid areas that remain waterlogged, particularly during Perth’s wetter winter months.
Watering: Water deeply and regularly while establishing. Once established, reduce watering as the plant becomes more drought tolerant. Container plants need more frequent watering.
Fertiliser: Apply a controlled-release native plant fertiliser in spring. Avoid excessive fertilising, as Acacias generally perform well in relatively low-fertility soils.
Pruning: Lightly prune after flowering or when needed to maintain the attractive rounded standard shape. Remove unwanted shoots from the trunk promptly to preserve the clear-stem appearance.
Perth tip: Good drainage is particularly important. Mulch around the root zone to help retain moisture during hot summer weather, but keep mulch away from the trunk.
