Strelitzia Nicolai / Giant Bird of Paradise

description	Commonly known as the Giant Bird of Paradise, this large, evergreen plant produces very long, broad leaves, resembling a palm frond. Large striking bird-like white and dark blue flowers appear during spring and summer, and provide a stunning contrast against the bluish-green foliage. Strelitzia nicolai will add a definite tropical-paradise feel to any garden or landscape. An ideal feature plant in the garden bed or large containers. Plant in an area of full sun to part shade, with well drained soil. Strelitzia nicolai is relatively low maintenance. Keep soils moist during the growing season, and through extended hot periods. Shade from direct sunlight in summer, but dry in winter. Strelitzia nicolai can grow to a height of 6 metres and a width of 3 metres.
