Information Also known as the Australian tree fern, Cyathea cooperi is native to New South Wales and Queensland. This tree fern grows a slender trunk that supports a crown of large lacy fronds that are particularly attractive. Cyathea cooperi is perfect for shady gardens, public gardens or ferneries. This ornamental fern prefers protected, shady and moist conditions but can be grown in sunny areas as long as it is watered regularly. Cyathea cooperi is cold tolerant. This tree fern requires relatively low maintenance. Use a high-quality mulch to ensure soils are moist and nutrients are provided to the shallow root system. Cyathea cooperi can grow to a height of 6 metres and a width of 3 metres.
