| description | Ficus benjamina Kinky is a beautiful house plant and the fresh pale green and white variegated leaves will add colour and texture to any collection. This lovely plant is ideal for today’s modern interiors. The Ficus is one of the most popular house plant trees available and this particular variety is smaller than most and the weeping habit makes it delicately attractive. This beautiful plant is also very good at physically filtering toxins from the air. The natural Ficus benjamina can grow up to 20m tall in the wild, but as a house plant Ficus Kinky will grow according to its pot size and position in the home or office. This is generally around 80cm in height. There should be no need to prune as Kinky will maintain it’s tree shape as it grows, but trimming or shaping as a topiary is absolutely fine. Watering once a week (approximately) should be ample but don’t allow them to stand in water. Allowing the soil to partially dry out before watering is a good practice to ensure over-watering doesn’t occur. Humidity is an essential consideration, and as tropical plants, Ficus Kinky likes to stay hydrated! Mist their leaves often and be sure to keep them away from air conditioning units or vents, which will likely dry them out or shock them with sudden temperature changes. Apply a slow-release fertiliser about every 6 months as ficus appreciate a good feed. Ficus Kinky is quite low maintenance. |
